Here are the links to the inspiration (in order from left to right, top to bottom):
1) Oceans Eleven, impeccable suits, Clooney&Pitt -'nuff said
2)Slim Fit Tee Tutorial from Schwin&Schwin
3)Basic Grey flat front pants (sorry I grabbed this as an image, it had no identifying info)
4) Gorilla Tee (can you believe this thing costs $80?!?!?!?!)
5) Shirt w/ shoulder button detail
6)Skinny cuffed Trousers from Schwin&Schwin
7) MADE 90 minute shirt
8) Upcycled Sweater from Me Sew Crazy

OPERATION STATUS:
So far I have 5 shirts DONE, 3 pants almost done (I just need to do the elastic and waistband, arghhhh the finishing), and a lightweight jacket patterned and cut. The suits are becoming a lesser priority at the moment, sigh.... Obviously basic shirts have not been an obstacle - in fact they are quite fun. The jacket I am working on is a different story, so many details, so many things I am figuring out and making up as I go along, design decisions that I am terrified to commit to. Part of me wants to say that I am not allowed to work on anything new until the jacket is done - part of me thinks it might get so stressful that having an easy project to complete in the middle might make me at least feel like I am moving forward. WHAT SAY YOU???
*I actually started sewing their wardrobe about 3 weeks ago, don't think I got all of this done in one week!!!
And a glimpse of what I have been working on.
So happy with this outfit!!! (no, the waist is not done in the pants, thus photographed on the floor and not on a boy - leave me alone, I said this was a sneak peak!) And no, I did not make the shoes - I found them at that store I was telling you about, Kid2Kid - so cute, so perfect for this outfit (and I paid $0 for them because of the store credit I had).
This is the outer shell of the jacket starting to come together - it will be fully lined, have a zipper, collar, cuffs, waist band, and HOOD! The pockets aren't sewn down because I don't know what to do with them yet - they are different (one is a zippered pocket and one is a tab pocket - not sure if I want them perfectly aligned/same exact size, etc...). HELP!
This is the first 90 minute shirt I made - it is my favorite of the FOUR I have made (I really like this style)
A loving his new shirt. Dance, dance, dance! I am making everything a bit big as the boys are still growing fast and they wont wear these for a few months still. (*And B has a good 5-7lbs on A, I need things to work for both of them ;op)
What have you been working on????

Looks great! I've always wanted to do an organized seasonal wardrobe, but still haven't gotten around to it. Good for you! I love your inspiration. Never thought of Ocean's Eleven for design ideas, but that's a great one for that! Looking forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!! I have to give PR&P credit for giving me the idea of looking at favorite movies for fashion inspiration. (*plus with one blondie and one brunet, my boys make a good pitt/clooney ;op)
DeleteWell done! I love this idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you - I hope I can get everything I want to done!
DeleteIf I get stressed with a project, I find it's better if I leave it for a while and then come back to it. Great idea to do a Winter wardrobe for the cost of nothing or next to nothing. Looking good so far.
ReplyDeletethanks so much - I ended up cutting another shirt (shirts relax me), and then I was able to focus on the pockets - once those were done I knocked out the lining and hood -now on to assembly ;op
DeleteLove all of these! That jacket is going to be super epic!
ReplyDeletehugs, thanks for the support!
DeleteGreat blog. Thanks for stopping by mine. Love the focus on boys clothes
ReplyDeleteI've been so inspired by the recent series focusing on boys (Celebrate the Boy, Sewing in Tune, etc...) it kind of lifted the false assumption I was living in that I could only sew for my baby girl. *I still think girls clothes are simpler, but I may end up deciding boys clothes are as much if not more fun!
DeleteCute! I love how you have given yourself some ideas to work on, what you have created so far looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for coming over! Max gave me the style board idea (and I think maybe she even got it from someone else)- it is so helpful when you have an end goal to have specific inspiration for the pieces you want to accomplish (my pinterest board can overwhelm me some times and I need to narrow it down).
DeleteThis is such a good idea! I love how you started with an inspiration board for your little guy. Makes so much sense! Found you at Take a Look Tuesday. I'd love for you to link up to WKWW-What Kids Wore Wednesday tomorrow!

Love love love that jacket!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! I uploaded some pictures to your FLICKR group.
ReplyDeleteHow fun. Thanks so much for sharing this on Fabulous Friday at Faith, Trust & Pixie Dust. Please do come back again next week. I'd love to see what else you've got going on.
ReplyDeleteWarmly, Michelle
What a great goal! This is really inspirational. I have lots of hand-me-downs from my nephew for my sons, and some are off by a season, or just not quite our style. I should pull them out and play...
ReplyDeleteI would love to have you add this to a collective link party I co-host, Eat Make Grow: http://www.hideousdreadfulstinky.com/2012/08/eat-make-grow-thursday-5.html
I host along with two other bloggers, so one link shows up on all three blogs, and we feature a couple of bloggers each week. We're always looking for great content like this! Hope to see you over there.
